Cards Catch the Dukes

The middle school football team was clicking on both sides of the ball Thursday night, as they cruised to a victory over PAC rival Wellington. The Cards jumped ahead early and never trailed, finishing with a score of 28-22. It was the last home game of the season, and Brookside came out fired up to […]

Cards Hang Tough, Fall to Pirates

The middle school football team made the long journey to Sullivan Thursday night to take on the Black River Pirates. It was a long trip, and the team did not perform well early, falling behind at the half by a score of 20-6. But with some motivational words from Coach Aliff, and a few key […]

Cards Win Battle of the Birds

The Middle School Football Team came away with a great victory over their PAC Stars foe at Firelands Thursday night, beating the Falcons by a final of 44-28. The game was a classic middle school matchup, and both defenses started the game strong. The Cards stopped a fake punt attempt on the first possession of […]

Middle School Football falls to Clearview

The middle school football team fell to a powerful Clipper squad Thursday night. The score at the half was 32-0, but the Cards regrouped and stepped up in the second half to keep the Clippers from scoring. With the loss Brookside falls to 2-1 on the season, with a trip to Firelands coming up on […]

Middle School Football Rise Over Phoenix

In their first “official” game of the season, the middle school football team garnered a victory over Oberlin’s Langston Middle School by a final of 16-6. Last week Lutheran West was not able to field a team, so they forfeited to the Cards. This game started poorly for the home squad, as Oberlin broke free […]

Middle School Football Falls to Avon

It was a tough opening night for the middle school football team as they fell in their final scrimmage of the summer to a powerful Avon squad by a final score of 20-8. The game featured 2 of the old Lorain County Conference foes, as the “Battle of the Birds” was renewed. The first quarter […]

Middle School Football Falls to Buckeye

It was a disappointing end to a great season Thursday night for the middle school football team, as costly turnovers led to a powerful Buckeye team pulling away from the Cards in the second half, winning by a final of 16-6. The Cardinals had their chances in this one, but a controversial turnover gave the […]

Cardinals Avoid Hazards, Catch Dukes

In one of the more exciting middle school football games in recent memory, the 2-4 Brookside Cardinals defeated the 4-2 Wellington Dukes Thursday night by a final score of 18-16. It was a battle of contrasting styles, as the Cards like to pound the ball with their trio of strong running backs, while the home […]

Middle School Football Hangs Tough

Coaches always say things like “there is no such thing as a moral victory” and “winning isn’t everything-it’s the only thing.” But sometimes looking at the scoreboard doesn’t always give you the story of a game, and that was certainly the case Thursday night as the middle school football team took on Black River. The […]
