The Brookside Cross Country Teams season ended on Saturday 10/21 at the District Meet. For the Girls Team it was their most successful season ever, winning 6 of their 12 races including 3 invitational championships. Unfortunately the LCCC District was loaded with 4 teams that were ranked in the top 20 in the state going into the District Meet.
The Cardinal Girls ran well but finished a distant 10th out of 17 teams in the race. First runner was senior Madissyn Valdez in 43rd place overall. Mackenzie Glass, Samantha Glass, and Marissa Meyers were the next 3 finishers for Brookside.
The teams in the Boys race were just as impressive, with 4 teams ranked in the top 14 in the state. The Brookside boys finished 16th. First runner was junior David Ocasio in 63rd place overall. Seniors Eric Fabanich and Justin Below were the next 2 Cardinals to cross the finish line, with Fabanich running a PR time even after playing football the night before!
Brookside will miss seniors Madissyn Valdez, Samantha Glass, Justin Below, Eric Fabanich, and also Annie Palmer and Perry Hall who did not compete on Saturday, but the teams have a talented and hard-working group of 8th graders moving up. Next year should be another great year for Brookside Cross Country!
