Game Recap

We came out a little flat against a tough Wellington team today. They scored 3 goals in the first half and we scored 1 just before half time. We came out in the second half much better, played with some intensity and battled for possession. They scored a goal in the 2nd half off a rebound of a PK that Hanna Begany made a good save on Shelby Dowdell had our goal with an assist by Katlynn Vanzant.

The Brookside Middle School Boys Cross Country team had a very strong finish to their season, placing 3rd in the PAC behind Keystone and Buckeye.

The top 5 boys were Jaykob Kolleda, Justin Fraam, Michael Bilczo, Damien Hennessee, and Nico Morello.  All 5 boys finished in the top 19th of the race.  All times were PR’s and rank them 4th through 9th on the All Time list.  Trenton Valdez, Jordan McClelland, and Marty Joyce also made the top 25 All Time as the team becomes the best Brookside MS team of all time.

Logan Smith, Patrick Sheehan, Benjamin Kramp, Zackary Kallas, and Daniel Flaherty also ran PR times for the boys.

The girls also ran well, finishing 5th as a team.  Julie Moore, Ashley Morgan, Alexis Ocasio, and Karly Donaldson all ran PR’s to finish between 17th and 30th.  These girls rank 15th to 22nd on the All Time list.  Tessa Morello was the 5th scoring girl.  Alexis Drachenberg and Devonie Thompson also ran PR times for the girls.

Girls Varsity Cross Country, Varsity Cross Country · CC Girls 2nd at PAC

The Brookside Girls had their best finish ever at the PAC Championship on Thursday 10/2 at the Carlisle Equestrian Center in LaGrange.

The girls were led by senior Madissyn Valdez, matching her PR of 21:06 to finish 6th place.  Valdez is the first Brookside girl to make First Team All PAC since Courtney Neigh finished 4th in 2009.

Freshman Alicia Fike finished right behind Valdez in 8th place in 21:11.  Alicia earned Second Team All PAC and was the fastest freshman in the race!  Sophomore Marissa Meyers was the next Cardinal girl, finishing 15th in a PR of 22:07 to earn Third Team All PAC honors.

Sisters Mackenzie and Samantha Glass finished 17th and 20th, both earning Third Team All PAC and rounding out scoring for the Cardinals.  Samantha made All PAC 3 times in her 4 year career.

Lauryn Ruble (23:16) and Autumn Saddler (24:25) both ran PR times.  Lauryn’s time ranks her #13 on the Brookside girls All Time list.

The Brookside team score was 66 which matched the 66 points scored by Black River, but the Pirates won the 6th runner tie-breaker.

In the boys race, Brookside finished a distant 8th place, led by David Ocasio in 17th place.  David made Third Team All PAC for the 2nd straight year.  Josh Thompson (19:33), Logan Valdez (24:18), and Jostein Sagnes (26:40) all ran their PR times for the boys.

Seniors Eric Fabanich, Annie Palmer, Perry Hall, Samantha Glass, Justin Below, and Madissyn Valdez (pictured above, left to right) all ran the final PAC Championship Meet of their careers.

The Cardinals next race is the District Meet at LCCC on Saturday 10/21.  Girls run at 2:00 and boys run at 3:30.

Game Recap

It was week 7 where the Brookside Cardinals traveled out to Black River High School. Brookside started out with the ball. Will Hawksley started out the drive with a nice run but was not enough to keep the drive going. Brookside punted and on the very next play the Black River Pirates never looked back. They would score the next 55 unanswered points.

Brookside still had some life in them before the half ended when Hice connected to Rivera through the air to get some points on the board.
The offense woke up in the second half where Hice and Rivera would connect two more times through the air. The Cards still would fall short with a final score of 68- 21.

The Cards have senior night next week at Dick Sevitt Stadium. Kick off at 7pm vs Wellington.

Game Recap

Tonight the JV team headed out to Wellington for our final game of the 2017-18 season and brought home a win!! The girls continued the win streak from Tuesday. Together they brought intensity and focus to the floor to take the match on 2 sets with scores of 25-15 and 25-21. We finished our season with a record of 7-15 and a PAC record of 7- 10.
The biggest takeaways for me as the coach had to be the amount of growth the ladies demonstrated as a team, communication with one another, and the developing the fight to pull together and win when the game was tight and tough.
Highlights-
Ava Miller: 4 service aces, 5 kills
Marlee Kovalik: 2 service aces, 5 kills
Tori Aliff: 2 service aces, 1 kill
Mackenzie Strauser: 3 service aces, 1 kill
Natalie Baughman: 3 kills
Hannah Trowbridge: 2 service aces
Ashlie Lewis: 1 service ace

Great season ladies! Continue to work hard and achieve your own victories the rest of this year!!
