What an exciting game! What a great comeback, from 13 points down. We started out being intimidated and uptight and allowed them to score 20 points in the first quarter. Once we settled down and played relaxed, we held them to only 19 points in the second half. These boys beat a team that hasn’t lost in the past 2 years, maybe longer. Our starters played so well in the second half that I didn’t want to break their momentum. They played so hard and so well that I felt they deserved the chance to win or lose it. I apologize to those who didn’t get their usual playing time but this was our championship game. This is our tournament. Rotations always shorten up in championship games. I will make it up to them next week.
Jayden Nazario had a monster game with 20 points, 6 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Nolan Waechter was a stat stuffer as well with 13 points, 5 assists, 4 steals and a rebound. Anthony Robinson had one of his best games with 8 points and 8 rebounds plus a steal. Tyler Kitzberger scored 6 points plus a couple of steals, a board and an assist. He had a man-boy to guard and made him work really hard and wore him out. Ethan Greco and Nick Arra both did a nice job playing 2 positions for the first time due to Sam being hurt. Nick was able to grab a board. Great win. 7-0 feels good.
