In one of our hardest fought victories, we had our usual 2nd quarter blitz to open up a 10 point lead at half. There were only 2 other games we didn’t have a lead after the 1st quarter. Once against Clearview and we were tied vs. Firelands. But our bench strength and fast paced tempo just wear teams down during the second quarter. Clearview was the only team to outscore us in the 2nd quarter this year and that was in our only loss, which was on me for not being focused that game to help the team.
Nolan Waechter lead us with 20 points, great defense and passing. Jayden Nazario tossed in 14 points with some nifty layups and surviving many uncalled fouls as he drove the lane. Tyler Kitzberger threw in 7 points and some tough box outs. Dom Lundberg had 4 points and provided his usual tough defense. Nick Arra also had 4 points and provided some physicality under the boards in fighting for rebounds, loose balls & defense. Anthony Robinson chipped in a bucket and battled for rebounds. Zack Doell hustled on defense and helped run the offense. Ethan Greco gave his best but was still slowed by injury when he collided with an opponent last week. The team guaranteed at least a tie for the championship by raising their record to 12-1.
