The team left nothing to chance by taking it to them early. Our usual 2nd quarter surge put Wellington in a big hole. Our depth and fast pace was never more evident then in this highly anticipated and high pressure game in trying to win an outright Championship. Fittingly, our captains lead the charge. In the first quarter they did all the scoring. Tyler Kitzberger scored 7 of his 9 points, while Jayden Nazario hit a 3 ball and Nolan Waechter hit a deuce. In the second quarter, Nolan tossed in 9, then in the 3rd he hit for 14 of his 25 points while Jayden contributed 5 of his 8 points. But the depth and flexibility all 9 players gave us allowed us to continually push the ball and attack the basket and just physically and mentally wear teams down. Anthony Robinson contributed all 6 of his points in the 2nd quarter with hustle, rebound putbacks. Dom Lundberg’s suffocating defense held their star to 3 baskets in the first half while Dom scored 4 points. Nick Arra, playing 3 positions well, scored a pair and banged a lot of bodies boxing out and playing tough defense, as well as having one of his trademark dives on the floor to grab a loose ball. Zack Doell provided his usual steady hand setting up the offense and rotating quickly on defense while playing 2 positions expertly. Ethan Greco also played a couple of positions perfectly, and always hustling on offense and defense.
So CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPS!!! Couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of young men!
